Nice moves from japanese humanoid robot


Robid, a new humanoid robot developed by Tomatoka Takashi of Robo Garage, a japanese company, is able to perform moves that are pretty good for its size… The robot weighs 1.6 kilograms (3.5 lbs) and its height is 38 cm (15 inches). The frame is made of carbon and plastic and it has 30 degrees of freedom which is very good for a robot at that size.

Among the robot’s abilities, are to jump about 8 cm in the air and voice recognition (though it is limited to less than 10 words so far). The robot is still in the prototype stage with no word for the production release yet. One of the most significant features is the leg design which allows the robot to do the jumping and body rotating tricks. See video below:
