Robogames
The worlds largest open robot competition held every year in San Francisco, CA, USA. Involves many different fields of competition including robot soccer, robot fighting. Although the majority of the events are autonomous in comparison to remote operated, the number of entrants is largely in remote operated competitions.
Robocup
A major international robotics soccer competition held every year in a different country. The goal of the project is that by 2050, a team of autonomous humanoid soccer players will be able to win against the human world champion team. Since it was founded in 1993, there have been significant developments in the humanoids'(androids) playing capability.
DARPA Grand Challenge
A competition held every year by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) of USA, in order to promote the engineering development of autonomous driving vehicles. There has usually been a prize of 1-2 million dollars to the winning team. Since it has been founded in 2004, there has been significant developments in autonomous cars' driving capability. While none of the vehicles were able to complete the track in the empty desert when the event first took place, the most recent event in 2007 witnessed vehicles successfully completing a deserted military base with many traffic rules to obey.
Eurobot
A competition held every year in Europe, with participants from all over the world. The competitors are student teams as well as other clubs. Involves many different categories of competition.
METU Robotics days
A series of international robotics competitions and events taking place every year in Middle East Technical University of Ankara, Turkey.
International Confernce on Robotics and Automation
A major robotics conference held every year around the world.
