Robot wheelchair moves by its own

The new wheelchair robot currently under development by MIT researchers, is able to take the person to the desired location autonomously, upon receiving a verbal command. The robot is first taught about the places verbally, when visiting those places for the first time, and then is able to find its own way back to those locations. The robot does this by creating a model of its surroundings that relies on a WiFi system. Further planned development for the chair include a collision avoidance system, and mechanical arms which will be able to perform basic tasks for disabled patients.
