Micro Robot That crawls human body


Scientists at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology have developed a micro robot that can accessa wide range of areas in human body by crawling. The robot moves by its micro legs, and has dimensions of 1mm diameter and 14mm length. It is powered by mini actuators, or by using magnetic force from outside of the body. It is made of silicone and metal and therefore biocompatible and can stay in the body for extended durations. Future applications include the robot traveling through blood vessels, digestive tract or the lungs, applying targeted treatment to specific locations, clearing blocked locations, performing biopsies etc…
