New Robot fighter plane passes test flight

The new robot fighter plane that was built by Northrop Grumman for US Navy, has just passed the performance test flights done in California Edwards Air Force base. The jet, which is called X-47B, and has a tailless design, flew for 29 minutes and climbed up to 5000 feet. This new generation of robot plane will be able to evade radar and fly faster than the currently used drones in Afghanistan. The plane was built under a contract awarded to Northrop Grumann in 2007 for $636 Million. During the test flight, the fighter was operated by a team on the ground. It will still take a few years for the jet be ready for the actual use in combat.
