IBM shows human brainlike chip possible

Working on a six year research project funded by DARPA, and involving about a hundred researchers, IBM has just announced that they have reached an important milestone in making chips that are able to “adapt” their thinking. Just like human brain, the chip is able to make a great deal of parallel processing at the same time combining memory and calculation. Researchers are saying that the chip’s working mechanism is so different than conventional chips that they needed to discard almost everything they knew before about workings of a chip. They are also reminding that there is still a lot more way to go.  See original story here.
