Annual AI conference

Organized by the Singularity institute for Artificial Intelligence, this year’s singularity summit will take place in San Jose, CA next week. Among the speakers are Intel’s Chief Technology officer, Manager of cognitive computing at IBM. The main focus of the event is to debate implications in the future when the Artificial Intelligence has the reasoning ability close, equal to or even greater than humans. The event is open to the public and registration costs $500 per person. The word singularity is a term used in physics used to describe the point inside a black hole, where the physics laws as we know it are not anymore valid. For Artificial Intelligence, it represents the point where the AI becomes stronger than human reasoning ability and therefore create drastic changes in life and by even improving itself further within a short period of time, with an ever accelerating rate, therefore the consequences are not yet clear.
