RoboDK Academy: Online Program for Robotics Software and Simulation -

RodoDK - Robotics Software and Simulation

Due to the increasing use of robots in every field, the demand for robot programmers is also rising. Robot programming software company RoboDK, has launched a free online platform called RoboDK Academy, to help learners from any capacity, such as engineers, professionals, students and educators master industrial robot programming skills. The users can sign up and complete the courses in their own pace. The platform includes hands-on interactive projects based on real world tasks and scenarios, step by step tutorials exercises, videos, simulation and offline programming, from beginner to advanced levels. The program’s focus is the use of RoboDK software, which has various tiers for users, starting with a free […] Read More

Rural Maharashtra School Advances STEM with RoboDK Robotics Lab -

A rural primary school in Maharashtra has stepped into the future of STEM education with the launch of a Robotics and Industry 4.0 lab powered by RoboDK and SimuSoft Technologies (Pune). Supported by Bharat Forge Ltd. through its CSR initiative, the lab at Zilla Parishad School, Jalindarnagar is the first of its kind in a rural Indian primary school. Inaugurated in November 2025 by Dadaji Bhuse, Maharashtra’s Minister of School Education, the lab gives students hands-on experience with robotics programming, IoT, CAD, 3D printing, CNC machining, and AI kits. Only a few years ago, the school faced closure with just three students. Today, enrollment exceeds 120 children aged 6–18, thanks […] Read More

Introduction to ROS -

ROS nodes concept

Robot Operating System (ROS) is an open source, flexible software framework* used for building and controlling robots. Despite its name, ROS should not be confused with a traditional operating system because it runs on top of existing operating systems like Linux or Ubuntu. It does not replace an operating system; it only provides tools, conventions, and software libraries* for robot building and development. A robot can be considered as a system made up of many small programs, each handling a specific job like controlling motors, processing sensor information, detecting objects, and planning navigation. ROS acts as a unifying layer that enables all these parts to communicate and operate in smooth […] Read More

Robotic Workcell Design with Cloud-Based Optimization -

Two of the most critical success factors in the manufacturing industry are time to deployment and cycle time. Despite this, the design and deployment of robotic workcells has long remained a surprisingly manual and time-consuming process. Realtime Robotics is aiming to change that with Resolver, a cloud-based optimization engine that introduces industrial-scale automation into the earliest stages of robotic system planning. At its core, Resolver addresses some of the most persistent engineering challenges in workcell design: motion planning, robot task allocation, target sequence optimization, and layout validation. Traditionally, these steps require iterative tweaking, deep domain expertise, and a significant investment of time and resources to get right and be able […] Read More

Robot Simulators and Physics Engines -

In this post we will take a look at robot simulators and physics engines which should be discussed together. Robot Simulator: Basically a robot simulator is a computer program that facilitates building and testing of robots in a virtual environment. Some key points: Firstly, robot simulators help save great deal of time and money by elimination of physical prototypes and testing, at least during a major part of the design except the very last stages. Errors can be corrected, the simulations and tests can be reset, and any desired changes can be made far more easier than in real world for all aspects of the robot such as its sensors, […] Read More

Autonomous Navigation -

To navigate its environment, a robot must be either remote controlled, preprogrammed in a known unchanging environment, or it must be able to do this autonomously. To be able to navigate autonomously a robot must be able to not only continuously model and update its environment, which can be static and dynamic, but also be able to determine the best path to take based on this model and its own instantaneous location. Based on this model, the navigation algorithm must be able to predict the future states of all the obstacles and objects in the environment. The necessary inputs to overcome these challenges are obtained through sensors, mainly camera but […] Read More

Simulator for Design of Magnetic Guided Automated Guided Robotic Vehicles -

Scottsdale, AZ, October 6, 2017 – Roboteq, Inc (www.roboteq.com) introduces RoboAGVSim, a simulator that lets AGV designers program, test and fine tune their Automated Guided Vehicles in the comfort of their PC.  A video demonstration of the Simulator can be found at https://youtu.be/3r_vB-9433Q. A Magnetic track guided AGV can be built using only two Roboteq components: An MGS1600 magnetic guide sensor and any Roboteq Dual Channel motor controller. The sensor measures the distance to the center of the track. Using its built-in programming language, the motor controller takes this data and computes the power to apply to the left and right motor needed for the robot to stay on track. The […] Read More

The Jobs AI Will Take Over First -

11th July 2017: The robotic revolution is set to cause the biggest transformation in the world’s workforce since the industrial revolution. In fact, research suggests that over 30% of jobs in Britain are under threat from breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (AI) technology.   With pioneering advances in technology many jobs that weren’t considered ripe for automation suddenly are. RS Components have used PWC Data to reveal how many jobs per sector are at risk of being taken by robots by 2030, a mere 13 years away. Did you think you were exempt from the robot revolution?   The top three sectors who are most exposed to the threats of robots […] Read More
